If you start feeling like there is nothing left for you to see on Koh Tao, get on a long boat taxi and go to Koh Nang Yuan which is about 15 minutes away from Koh Tao. This is the second largest island in Thailand and it is famous for the luxury it offers.
On this island, you will find five-star properties, spas and secluded private resorts amongst several other high-class offerings. If you’re a fan of coconut, then you’ll love this place. They use coconut in everything; from cooking to skin care. The Chaweng Beach is also a fantastic place for relaxing and partying.
Koh Pha Ngan
The Haad Rin Beach on the Koh Pha Ngan island is a great place to party. And if you love hiking, the pristine Bottle Beach is an ideal spot for you since it cannot always be accessed by boat.
On Thong Sala, the main town of the island, you can get some of the best food Thailand has to offer. Foods range from spicy papaya to freshly grilled squid and coconut mango sticky rice all available at a relatively low price.
Koh Phi Phi
This island is one of the most loved islands in Thailand and has even featured in a film titled The Beach. The film has gone onto contribute to the increased number of tourists who have visited here.
There are many travel companies and hotels that offer tours of the island so make sure you get the best price. The Sunflower Beach Bar is a great place to unwind and relax while soaking in the beautiful view.
Phuket Island is home to old Chinese heritage architecture and coastal areas such as Siam Beach and Ao Sane. You can also visit the James Bond Island which is always crowded especially between October and February, so make sure you time your visit accordingly. If you are a very private person, hire a boat and visit the beautiful coral waters and the untouched coastlines of Koh Hae or Koh Rang Yai.
Phang Nga Bay is one of the most popular spots in Phuket. A relaxing day trip can take you through the limestone formations and quiet beaches. You can tour the island either via canoe or speedboat. For amazing photography backdrops, visit the Samet Nangshe viewpoint. It’s a cozy hilltop just over thirty minutes away from Phuket. For the best views, go at sunrise around 5:30 AM.
This is a fairly newly discovered island and it is quickly becoming a popular tourist destination. It is made up of small islands which include Koh Lanta Yai and Koh Lanta Noi.
There are a number of National parks on this Island which include the Mu Ko Lanta which is home to a lot of birds, reptiles, and some wild tigers. There is a resort on Klong Jark Beach and a bar on Nui Bay. You can also explore the lush mangroves by hiring kayaks and if you would like to explore the uninhabitable land, take a boat trip to Rok Nai and Koh Rok Nok. Because it is one of the newer islands, you’ll be treated to truly authentic Thai meal at a local restaurant. The Sea Gibsy Village is a very popular place to have lunch as you will also enjoy amazing natural views.
This Island is quite close to Bangkok and it only takes five hours by bus from the center of Bangkok or 45 minutes by ferry. The Koh Chang island boasts stunning green parks, waterfalls and large beaches amongst other beautiful views. For the solo traveler, this island will keep you entertained all day. You will also find lovely spots to hang out during the day and mingle with friendly locals who will be more than happy to show you around.
One of the coolest things to do on Koh Chang is diving. The island provides some of the most amazing diving sites in Thailand with access to Koh Rang coral reefs and new wreck sites at the southwestern coast of the island. There are a lot of dive schools on the island that will show the ropes if you have no experience.
Koh Samet is one of the more quiet islands in Thailand. It will take you two hours by bus from the mainland, then you will have to take a ferry to the island. Samet has a lot of stunning beaches for you to enjoy!
Ao Phai and Hat Sai Kaow are the liveliest beaches because of the bar where cold drinks and hammocks are available for guests. The island also has a National Park which has been in existence since 1981. You will need to pay 400baht to enter the island, but it will be money well spent. The efforts and stress you have to go through to get on the Koh Samet will become minimal once you begin to experience all that the island has to offer.
